We had a short 3 Transmitter course at Mt. Airy to test our new AM transmitters. Click on the photo to see the rest of the photos. One of them is of me wearing bright green pants and a cobalt blue jacket---possibly one of the worst color combinations I've ever worn. (Usually I wear a black jacket with those pants, and it looks pretty good, but I needed a little thicker jacket, and, Man!, did I wear something bad. Also, I only bought those green pants because they didn't have navy blue. No really. And I bought the jacket in a store with sodium vapor lamps, and I thought it was more of a regular blue. I'm not joking. What?!) Here's the map (click to see more): Our Mt. Airy map is dated 1993, which is very old for an orienteering map. I'm hoping we can get it updated in the next few years. It uses the older 2-color green vegetation mapping. The standard now is 3-colors of green (light, medium, and dark green). In the places we tend to use on this map, the green isn't as bad as the map shows, at least it seems that way to me. Unfortunately, the route to 2 from 1 is pretty nasty---It's every bit as green as the map shows. Dick won in 53:45, then Bob in 1:02:50, then Brian in 1:05. Emily was 55 minutes, but at the top of the hill, she decided the signal for 2 was all over the place and didn't attempt it.
